No. It is first come first serve. Many a times we waited in line, however the lining up reduced once they opened the Sushi side.....also, once the original Hirano sold and moved back home overseas.
Doubtful. They are very cautious/conscious about money. Small businesses have lower profit/loss margins and need to be practical.
I've been going there for over 25 years...Even though Mr. Hirano is retired The food taste the same
Fantastic food and alot of it at a great price!!!
My Papa was friends with the late Mr.Hirano, so we have been eating here since they were located on River St. Hands down they are the BEST Japanese I have ever had, and trust me, I have looked the few times I moved from Sav. They have their own unique flavors in the ginger dressing all the way to the gyoza sauce. My family will never eat at another Japanese place as long as Hirano's is still around.
They got some good food but they never open. Weirdest restaurant hours ever. I can't even understand how they're still in business 🤦♂️
Great place for sushi, rolls, ramen and don. Very fresh and reasonable price. Very friendly staff, quick services. If you are into Uni they arrive freshly every Thursday night, highly recommended.
This place use to be good but the food and customer service has gotten awful. The server came out with drinks and no straw also his answer for everything is "it's cold" that's why the sauce not coming out. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING!!!!!
Very good, service was great
Food was good. Very loud and not very good seating options. Service was sub-par. Not a good option if you're brining young children
Excellent teriyaki chicken (on sale), best gyoza in town.
Always amazing!
Nothing fancy. It's like a Japanese style waffle house without the waffles. Good prices, fast, fresh, but not fancy. It's very informal and small and the hours are lunch time and then dinner time and nothing in between. Bring your expectations down a couple notches and you will love this place. Ginger pork, gyozas, and that yummy ginger dressing on the salad! If you are low carb, just ask for your meat and veggies. Still gets you a good serving of food, mostly veggies which are zucchini, mushrooms, cabbage, onion combo. I don't eat sushi so can't review that. Sorry.
I love all the sushi that I have ate their. And the prices are very reasonable.
It's the best in town hands down .....
Taca is the sushi king of Savannah. He has carried the Hirano tradition with great honor.
I don't know if the fried rice is always this weird, but it was unsettling. I don't understand why this place has such a high rating, the rest of the food was ok I guess, but the fried rice was drenched in some kind of oil that you aren't supposed to cook rice with, I think it was canola. It was a weird color too. I was starving when I went here so i was trying to just power through it, but I didn't even finish the rice, which I have never done at a japanese place like this before. The entire drive home my mouth had this oil film inside it that persisted until I brushed my teeth. I'm probably never going back here.
Witnessed 2 ladies come in at 11 and show out over a shrimp sauce. They were very unreasonable and decided to be very rude and obnoxious about it instead of reading the big sign right in front of them that clearly stated how many sauces came with their meal. The lady working the register handled it well. I will be back =) food was great and servers were very sweet.
Great place food is always on point.
Busy during lunch rush, had to wait 40 minutes for food, service was great but food was only okay. Had the teriyaki chicken with soba noodles. Noodles were flavorful and sticky, chicken was dry, teriyaki sauce was too thin and bland.Honestly I probably will not return. I'd rather go to Barberitos across the street.
One of my favorite neighborhood restaurants.
It was alright. The place is kinda dirty and run down but the staff is nice and attentive. I thought the flavor of their fried rice was less than ideal and their food in general lacked flavor. The vegetables included as a side to an entree were mostly bean sprouts, onion, and mushroom which isn't the normal combo seen in a hibachi restaurant. The sushi was great though!
Mochi ice cream in green tea, mango, strawberry and vanilla!!!!
Always great food, at a great price!
Great lunch specials
Love this place.. The vegetables are my favotirte!
Restaurant smelled good from the cooked food, however, I ordered sushi. It was terrible. It is not good when raw tuna doesn't smell fresh. I could not finish the "unspicy tuna roll" or the "Boston roll" which had lettuce on it so the roll was not wrspped tightly causing all the innards to fall out when I picked it up. Overall, not a great sushi experience and I will not be back.
I have been coming to this place for years and the service has always been great but today it was a waiter with glasses and a ponytail and he had a attitude my whole experience at Hiranos I will never be back and I know my few dollars might not matter but terrible service spreads like a disease
Simple fast and delicious!
The good, the sushi was fresh! However, the bad the teriyaki chicken was over cooked, the vegetables were undercooked, and the sauce had no flavor. Teriyaki more like teriyucki.
I've had sushi from coast to coast and this place is one of the best I have ever had. Thank you for the great sushi!!!
Good fish at an affordable price point! Best place for sushi around this area
Consistently good food and reasonable prices. Excellent sushi too!
They say always eat where the locals eat.. well, this is the place for that! Great staff and even better food! Thank you
Amazing lunch spot in midtown Savannah. The Chicken Teriyaki lunch special is an amazing value for the amount you get and the quality of food. So good!
Food is always fresh and delicious!
There was a tall blonde waiter who was very attentive and very professional, will definitely go again. Taka's sushi was superb!
Nice Japanese restaurant to have Teriyaki food here, the store are always busy so make sure you find your own sites not wait at front door!
This restaurant is it go to anytime we are in Savannah. Their food is consistently delicious whether it be sushi or on the hibachi grill. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed.
Love the sushi here...staff is wonderful and the owner knows his clientele. It's small but fantastic
Fast service and good food!
I've had better sushi from Publix...We tried 3 different rolls (TST, Calamri, Mexican). Not sure what their other dishes are like.
Perfect wait, cooks, owner....just kinda far away...
This was unfortunately the worst Japanese food we have ever had. The pictures on the website look like it was from a different restaurant. We didn’t sit on the sushi bar side, and maybe if we ordered sushi over there it would have been a different review. The quality of the food was sad. The fried rice was so gross that we didn’t even finish it. We have never NOT finished fried rice. Chicken was bland. Veggies were actually decent. Didn’t even give us chopsticks. Staff was friendly and at least the food was cheap but someone has to say something as this was not Japanese food.
The food was good but the service was horrible. I live out of town and was here visiting my son so he suggested we eat here. My son and I stood at the door for 10 minutes before we were acknowledged. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and the shrimp entree. I never got my spicy tuna roll and no member of management came over to apologize. The waitress just crossed it off the ticket. My son gave the young lady his credit card to pay for our meals and it took 25 minutes to get it back and this was after another waiter tried to give us someone elses card. They have to do better. Monday night was not that busy. However the food was very good for the price.
We've been eating here for years. It's not as good as when Mr. Hirano was cooking, but it's still a good place for a fast, cheap meal. Chicken teriyaki is our standard order.
Cheap, quick, convenient.
Been eating here since I’ve lived in Savannah close to 30 years. Love the food and sushi. My children always have to go there whenever they come to town!!!
We used to go here quite frequently about 5 years ago until moved. Stopped in on quick trip to Savannah and were so disappointed. Wait staff couldn't find us a menu, didn't remember to bring water, and brought son's food 45 minutes before 2 tiny plates of sashimi (charged extra for rice) with imitation crab meat. No manager around. . No longer recommend.
Reminded me of a small Japanese restaurant tucked away in Tokyo. I thought it was charming. I had the beef gyoza & tuna sushi and they were delicious so I plan on getting a dish there in the future.
Best place for sushi in Savannah area. And pls go else where if u r here for American Japanese food, that’s just not what this resturant suppose to do.
Awesomeness very romantic Great foodFast service
